Development Engineers

Location: Derby

EKES is a Tier 1 Approved Supplier to Rolls-Royce for Engineering Services, and has for a number of years undertaken a broad range of engineering services to them in the UK & Germany.

To continue this growth we require a number of experienced Development Engineers to join our team of talented engineers in our Derby offices.

The foundation of our success is our people and for many years we have developed a culture of identifying, growing, developing and retaining top talent. We currently have opportunities for Development Engineers to join us in both East Kilbride and in Derby.

The fundamental role of development engineering is to take a design solution to any problem and certify that solution to the requirement of the airworthiness regulations and the needs of the company business for operation in the service environment. This can be basically applied to the new engine introduction and to the fleet operation which may be looking at a specific and single component change or introduction.

As a Development Engineer you will determine the component validation strategy by reviewing the design to determine what tests and analysis are required to prove that it meets the requirements. The Development Engineer works with other members of the project team to deliver validated components.

The expectation of people coming into this team is they will be people who are:-

  • Prepared to get up and go find the answers to problems they encounter.

  • To go out and learn from other departments and disciplines not just by attending the relevant courses but by going out into those areas and learning from the people who actually do the job, from the fitter on the shop floor and the test beds to the thermals and stress engineering specialist.

  • A completed Degree or HNC qualification in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or a comparable qualification.

  • Gas Turbine experience preferred but not essential.

  • Sound understanding of mechanical engineering.

  • Understanding of EASA CS-E Specifications would be beneficial

  • Independent and autonomous work ethic.
